Discover the Maltese Islands
Located around 90km south of Sicily, Malta is only a couple of flying hours away from most major European cities. With a population of approximately 410,000, the Islands cover an area of 316km and travelling distance from any two points is normally less than 30 minutes. The climate is mild and pleasant throughout most the year.
Two of the major areas of Malta are the Capital Valletta, overlooking the Grand Harbour, and Mdina, a fortified medieval city built on a hill in the centre of the island.
Sometimes described as an ‘open air museum’ the Maltese Islands boast of numerous archeological sights including the megalithic temples of Hagar Qim, Mnajdra (in Malta) and Ggantija Temples (in Gozo).
Surrounded by the deep blue Mediterrenean - Malta, Gozo and the little island of Comino are also a dream destination for divers keen to discover unspoilt creeks.
Besides being rich in history and culture, there is plenty to do in the evenings with many options such as theatre, casino, local bars with live music, restaurants and discotheques.
